Pro Pack

Postby charlee » Fri Jan 08, 2010 8:25 am

Hi, just bought the new lithium kit for myself but I'm thinking of building a few bikes for my friends who are going to want one when they see me zoom by... Electric bikes are rare and just starting here in eastern Canada.. Do you offer a special discount for 10 or 20 'ready to go' kits?

I am also considering the Pro Packs option. Can you please give me the list of what's included in the Pro Pack and what it takes to make it into a functional kit, ie spoke the wheel, wiring etc.. and also, how much it would cost for 10 or 20 of the new lithium batteries if I buy 10 or 20 Pro Packs.. Thanks

Hi Charlee,

Excellent questions. Also, I'm looking forward to getting your lithium kit up to you asap.

It's great that you're interested in the building options, because we really want to encourage people to take that route and want to offer good mixes of parts at good prices. We can offer good quantity discounts on our 'ready to go' kits, and also work with you on the Pro Packs so they include the parts you're interested in and also all the tech and info support you need. Keep checking our website because we're updating the quantity discount functions to the Pro Pack and also the lithium kit products in just a few days. We're also changing what parts are included in the default Pro Pack (basically including more and making the prices better than they were before).

This is great to have this 'building in batches' discussion on the forum because other people can get the idea of what's possible with our components.

Basically, the Pro Pack is just a box of components that are easy to mail, keeping the shipping costs down. The exact list of what components are in the Pro Pack may change as we experiment with the default list based on what parts are most popular. The main idea is that the Pro Pack contains a:

-battery,
-charger,
-an electronics controller for the battery to talk to the motor,
-the motor,
-the seat bag that holds all the battery and electronics,
-and the handlebar grip switch.

What we do is tailor the Pro Pack to the customer so they get the exotic parts that are hard for them to find, but then also save money on freight and can have full control over the wheel building process. Different people might want different amounts of parts. For example, if you can find the exact type of rim (Alex 101) that we use locally near you, you could ask us to send spokes that were just the right length from our inventory. If you wanted to use another model of rim you'd have to find your own spokes because we wouldn't know exactly what length you needed (one "26 inch" rim will be slightly different than another, and may actually need spokes that are 3-6mm different). Also, if you wanted us to include tires and tubes we could do that, but you may find a great source locally too.

It may turn out that since you're not too far from our shipping center it could be best to just send you all 'ready to go' kits and work out a special bulk shipping rate that's lower than our standard rates.

The bottom line is that we do offer quantity discount prices for 10 and 20 unit orders of both SLA, Lithium kits, and also SLA and lithium Pro Packs, and all that pricing should be available to review and calculate by the end of this week on our website.

This forum would be a great place to discuss the actual applications of using the Pro Packs and kits for your own installation business ideas and get other people's input. We have some people already doing this in other parts of the world with our components and it would be good for everyone to share ideas.

I look forward to some good brainstorming,

Mike

Thanks for the reply Mike, that gives us good options and discounts for building more bikes. I'll let you know how it goes when I try out the kit on my mountain bike. You did a good job on upgrading the website with the new lithium kits and ProPacks.

Yeah, we really want to support this type of local project. It's cool if we can get a single customer out riding their own conversion kit and demonstrating the great lifestyle changes it can bring, and it's very cool when we can help someone set up their own shop or expand their own e-conversion business. Even with small volumes like 10 ProPack units, we can pretty much tailor them to match up with exactly what type of project you want to get going.

Also, thanks for the feedback on the website changes!
