switch intermittent

Postby dennis » Tue Mar 01, 2011 9:38 am

Is there any maintenance or suggestions on improving switch connectivity, I read about the epoxy glob to make it easier to find and activate, but my switch clicks easily but I really have to press hard to get the motor to kick in...to the point of sore fingers and even then not sure if it will work..intermittent but definitely switch related. Otherwise all is well and the kit makes the bike loads of fun and real easy local transport.

Seems like I should hesitate to post as I am gradually figuring things out. My kit is an acid test as it lives on the deck of a sailboat..occasional heavy rain and constant salt deposits. The switch doesn't lend itself to dis-assembly so I hosed it down right around the little button with carburetor cleaner via the small plastic tubes that come with spray penetrates etc, massaged the button around a bit and then blew it dry and sure enough, much better contact. The upside of harbor bike life is that it is a fairly flat environment and these low power light weight kits work great, easy to lift over the rail and lifelines if the bike is also light. Try going down a long narrow boat dock at full speed for thrills.
