Subject: Biking to work
Dear Christina,
I enjoyed your article on biking this week. I have purchased my own comfort/mountain bike recently and am looking forward to attaching my panniers to the back today. I have a plan all set up to get me to and from work. I never have been much of a bike rider but in the interest of lowering my carbon footprint, I took the plunge. I am looking forward to enjoying being outside instead of closed up in my car with the AC running and passing the cars which are in 5:00 gridlock. There are many hills on the way to and from my office here in San Antonio, Texas. A friend of mine that builds electric cars suggested indulging in an electric bike motor to help me get over the hills and to decrease the amount of sweating I do on the ride to work. I can pedal home for a good workout. Since I have not biked in years I have just started learning the bike rules and riding in my own neighborhood. I really love it. The motor adds a measure of confidence to my ride knowing I will be able to tackle any hill I come across. I bet in time this will increase my strength and enjoyment considerably.
When I read your article I just had to share with you that I was using an electric motor. It costs a whole $00.01 cent per 50 miles. The low cost and ease of installation make it well worth it in my humble opinion. Here is a link to a video I thought you may be interested in watching. http://www.cleanrepublic.com/hill_toppe ... n_kit.html
Thanks for the article. You have given me hope that more people will follow our lead!
In Love,
