Can I install Tubes on the roof of an RV.

Do you know if these tubes hold up if mounted on the roof of an RV? Or do you know of a way to install them on the roof of an RV in a way that they will with stand the roadway? If it is possible do you have any instructions on installing them on an RV? Thanks.

Hi James,

That's a good and interesting question.

I'm sure there is a way, although I've never installed an array in such a setup. I'm sure you could build a standard manifold, but just add some foam padding to the connection points on the roof. That would be the challenge, to reduce vibration and bumping as much as possible.

Does anyone else have any advice for James?

p.s. I'm moving this post to the Solar Vacuum Tube section of the forum. Thanks!

What I was trying to find out is how breakable the tubes are, so that if possible I can figure out a way to install them on an RV. I was thinking that I might have to install them in some kind of a transparent housing.

They are pretty fragile. About as fragile as a drinking glass.

Thanks. After reading what you wrote I was thinking that I might be able to mount the manifold in some kind of firm foam rubber inside a clear plastic case and I was wondering if the outer tube becomes hot?
