Battery replacement

Postby Brian » Tue Feb 21, 2012 2:23 pm

I bought a hill topper with the SLA battery It didn"t last 2 months, charges fine but distance has decreased greatly. My question is can you use a lithium ion battery (24 volts 10amp) from my e-zip bike and wire it into your motor and grip switch cable. The lithium battery has 4 post s compared to 7 on yours. Thanks, (is this something I can do?)

Hi Brian,

Thanks for the question. I would contact tech support about your battery range issue, as that is not typical, as long as the kit is being used properly.

The e-zip bike battery cell (24 volt, 10Ah) would work with the Hill Topper, but the motor controller, the piece of electronics that regulates how the power is sent to the motor, would not be compatible with the Hill Topper motor.

If you want to connect this battery cell, you will need one of these: http://www.electric-bike-kit.com/controllerandchromeplug.aspx

Let me know if this makes sense. Thanks.

p.s. I'm moving this post to the tech support forum.

Thanks for answering my question on the lithium battery. The controller for this conversion that you sell, does it have a diagram so I can do it myself or is this something for and electronic person to do. I don't see the controller for your hill topper kit , but I see it on my E zip. Thanks again I might give this a shot. also contacted tech support on my battery problem

Hi Brian,

The motor controller doesn't come with a wire diagram, but all you need to do is connect the positive and negative wires (color coated red: positive, black: negative) to the correct battery terminals. Our tech support guys can walk you through it if you need, but it is fairly simple. The motor controller is a small silver box inside our battery bag, which is connected to the battery. It has a wire with a chrome plug coming off the end. Thank.
